Just I couple of weeks ago, I was lucky enough to be sent by Carnival Cruise Line to experience The Carnival Sunshine, a part of Carnival’s Fun Ship 2.0 line.
Crazy, right?
The Carnival Sunshine used to be The Carnival Destiny. But in 2013, for 75 days, it was treated to a facelift…a $155 million facelift.
It’s a beauty.
The main lobby is sparkly and inviting..

The Sunshine Bar
The staterooms are modern, roomy and comfy…
Even though Carnival was generous enough to offer us the option to bring our kids, we opted to cruise by ourselves. While I am sure they would have had a blast in the kids camps and the massive water slides, we opted to have a husband and wife vacation..not a Mom and Dad vaca.
My husband and I haven’t been on a real vacation without our offspring for 10 years.
I think we were due. And let me tell you, a vacation without kids is SOOOOOO much different than a vacation with kids.
I never once heard, “I’m bored.” or “What can we do now.” or “She’s touching me!”
To be honest, it was lovely. I missed my little nuggets, but IT.WAS.NICE.
There are so many “adult things” a.k.a BARS to do on the ship. J/K..Not only bars…Carnival Sunshine does have a three-level serenity ADULTS ONLY retreat,Sunshine Casino and the Could 9 Spa. Ohhh ahhhh.
Some of the drinking establishments are…
The Red Frog Pub
BlueIguana Tequila Bar
EA Sports Bar
Alchemy Bar
RedFrog Rum Bar
The Library Bar
Havana Bar
We were treated to the Mixology class at the Alchemy Bar. We were given an in-depth class on everything cocktail. The proper way to hold a martini glass, the ratios for the perfect drink and some great tricks like lighting a lemon peel on fire for a quick second to change the flavor of the drink.
.
Lot’s of entertainment as well
The Liquid Lounge was alway quite a hit being the main show lounge/Dance Club
Piano Bar 88
The Punchliner Comedy Club presented by George Lopez
The Library Lounge and many more venues to keep you busy for your entire cruise experience.
We had a great time off ship as well…
Cave tubing in Belize
.
.
Fresh Coconuts in Costa Maya
.
.
A beautiful TRUE waterfront restaurant in Isle of Rotan
.
Had to visit Jimmy Buffets while in Cozumel
.
And we all know that no Carnival Cruise is complete without the Towel Animal…In fact, in it’s first year of service the Carnival Sunshine created more than a half-a-million town animals for their guests.
We woke up one morning to a towel animal party on the deck
.
Part 2 will be ally about the food. Ohhh, the food.
*I was a guest of Carnival to experience all that the Carnival Sunshine has to offer. All opinions are 100% mine.*
How fun! I’d love to check out Carnival as we had a not-so-good-experience on another cruise line. Lucky you!
Ohhh nooooo, that stinks 🙁
I’ve only been on one cruise in my life and it was absolutely nothing like this! But obviously, I can’t wait to hear about the food 🙂
ha ha ha…towel animal party, that’s pretty cute. Sounds like an awesome time. I’ve never been on a cruise, but I love the sound of an adults-only vacay with a serenity retreat (though I’d probably feel totally guilty if I saw other kids having fun). Plus, I’d totally love to take a mixology class!
Ive been on adults only and have taken my kids…..2 totally different vacations! I felt guilty for 2 seconds 😉
Oh my gosh, SO jealous! That looks like a blast.
I’ve never been on a cruise, so I’m really looking forward to reading more about your trip! The towel animal party on the deck is hilarious! Too cute! Can’t wait to read about the food.
Really Stephanie? You totally need to trey yourself to one. Soooooooo very relaxing!
You have no idea how jealous I am. I’m so mad I had to skip out on this and the fact I missed seeing you! Everything on this cruise looked unbelievable! Maybe I can go next year 🙂
Ohhhhhh I missed you to!
I love cruises and Carnival Sunshine looks awesome! Love all of its features and that’s quite the beautiful facelift it’s received! Thanks for the info, will definitely check into it!
Thanks for stopping by Kimberly!
My first cruise was a Carnival Cruise 15+ years ago and I have such fond memories! Looks like they are continuously improving.
Ha! So happy you made the decision to go without the kids — I don’t think enough parents treat themselves. 🙂 Looks like you had a blast!
Thanks Katie! It was great to be kid free for a few days…but I sure did miss them!
Lucky you! You deserve a special trip with the hubby. I cant wait to come back and hear about the food.
Looks like you had such a good time 🙂 Cave tubing sounds interesting, and the towel animal party is so funny! 🙂
Thanks Amanda..it was a blast!
