I loved how my husbands birthday cake turned out this year.
Simple and clean.
It’s a 3 tier 10″ yellow cake, with buttercream.
It came in at a whopping 7″ tall. Huge.
We had a massive Halloween/Birthday party and as always, the cake got devoured!
I used this Spider template for the top of the cake. And used black sugar to make the spider.
Countless curse words flew from my mouth trying not to get the black sugar from going everywhere.
I also made some cute Happy Birthday bunting. I cute triangles from black scrapbook paper, and used cooking twine to thread through the triangles.
Don’t you just love it?
Oh and BTW, Whats up with every single Halloween costume at the store being skanky and sexy?
I am not in the sexy mood this year.
So I went COMPLETE opposite with my homemade halloween costume
I “dressed” as a White Trash Housewife.
Went to Salvation Army and got a couple Moo-Moos, some hair rollers, fake eyelashes(That I put on crooked), some .50 knee highs and used my sisters 7 year olds cigarettes that she has in her Halloween costume bin…..and called it a night.
My sister was a “Person of Walmart”….classic! And my sister-in-law was Lucy.
Annnnnnd, the next day, I got off the couch TWICE.
And I begged my husband for McDonalds to make my hangover go away.
Chickie, you crack me up. Such a perfect costume 😉
And this cake…GORGEOUS!!
Love the photos and the spider cake! Fun!
LOL!
Love the eyeliner….it’s so spot on.
“Countless curse words flew from my mouth…” that made me laugh out loud literally.
And the costumes are awesome!!
You always make me laugh! Love your humor. I want to know why the costumes weren’t sexy/trashy back when I had the body to pull it off! We are going to a benefit dinner on Saturday and our table has to dress up like the characters in Breakfast at Tiffany’s. Great me in a sleeveless dress with my “wave goodbye” arms. Just in case people don’t know, that is when you wave goodbye and your triceps keep waving in the breeze. Seriously, why couldn’t our table do Top Gun, then I could hide myself in one of my husband’s old flight suits? Great, now I need wine. No, wait, Wine has calories. I need Valium!
I feel sort of a guilty fascination with hideous 80’s and 90’s patterns. I don’t want to look away from that Moo-Moo! The pattern is drawing me in! :O :X
LOVE the costume! I might have to steal that one next year. The cake turned out great – that bunting is such a cute idea!
Love how you still had on the moo moo the next day!!!!!!!!!!!
Loved your costume, got a kick out of it, the cake looked yummmmeee. Our only child is november 3 birthday, she had a Halloween birthday party just once, she scared the living you know what outta the boys, she is shy and reflective and sensitive, she made sure to ask for stuff she could tell the boys who pulled her pigtails this was 2nd grade mind you olives for eyeballs, spaghetti for brains, etc.The boys yelled and screamed so bad, my husband who is a late late october birthday boy, said wait a minute here!!!!!!!!!!!!! The girls and the birthday girl squealed in delight she is introverted and a scorpio liked to get a litte Karma on those who tried to smooch her and pull her blonde blonde pigtails..Years later at her all night graduation party we were chaperones those fellows and some gals came up to us and said that was the best birthday party they ever remembered from their childhood!! Can you imagine??? She went to school from kindergarten all thru 12th grade with a group of 12 kids and still when she is in town sees them and was in many weddings. oh, for those school days, public school, small classes, treasured friends, and a hoot of Halloween and Halloween Birthday party…Enjoy your holidays, our only is in NYC and we worried until she called from Chicago she is there for a film festival even took her cat worried about her being in the apt. all alone..she is fine…..But I pray all the other people with lost electric, heat, etc. are safe..happy happy holidays..absolutely adore your blog, recipes etc..
