I’m not 100 years old.
I swear.
I still boil water in my tea kettle.
Yes, I am fully aware that I can get my water hot for my evening tea in about 60 seconds in my microwave, but I like rollin’ old school.
There is just something soothing about boiling my water in my pretty shiny Chantal Tea Kettle and pouring it into my favorite tea cup with its awaiting tea bag.
It’s a nightly ritual for me.
Oh, and it looks pretty on my range.
Do you use the microwave or a tea pot?
There’s lots of different tea pots out there that would be perfect for you!
Let’s get back to the art of boiling water people!

Tea kettle hands down. I am a tea girl but occasionally drink coffee. Personally, I detest the way any food (or liquid for that matter) tastes in a microwave. I actually had my electrician run a dedicated circuit into my pantry closet, and put the dang thing in there – I never use it, but the kids will infrequently. I think using a tea kettle is therapeutic, and it is simply a good thing to have little rituals in life.
I’m totally with you on the tea kettles. There is something totally charming about a tea kettle. Plus, they look cute sitting on the stove. I love them.
I love tea kettles too! Yours is so pretty 🙂
My Mom had a bright red tea kettle when I was growing up. She didn’t even drink tea but used it all the time to boil water for whatever she needed boiled water for. But I loved the look of that tea kettle and the magical sound it made when the water was ready!
I am absolutely with you on boiling hot water on the stove top. I don’t have a kettle, so I just use a plain ol’ pot. But I absolutely think that it tastes better on the stove than in the microwave. (As with so many other thing that taste better on the stove versus microwave.)
YES! I love my whistling tea kettle. I have even forgotten that I could boil water in my microwave.
I love my kettle too – to be honest, I have never even thought about using the microwave to get hot water for tea.
I graduated to the Breville electric kettle and I love it. It was so hard for me not to put out the extra $$ for the one just for tea. You set it to Green, White or Black and it will heat it to the correct water temp for each of the teas. Thinking that just might have to get it after all. My daughter is moving out and I can let her take the old one and I get the new one. Fair trade for the baby bird leaving the next.
I use a kettle every time and I totally get it from my mom. My wife will heat her water in the micro but I just don’t get it, I feel it’s cheating you and if you don’t hear that whistle then I’m thinking well is it really boiled??
Kettle all the way 😉
All around me, friends and family are using Tassimo and Keurig machines. My sister even generously gifted me with one. Which we can’t wait to get rid of. My parents were tea drinkers and hubby’s parents are English. The machine doesn’t even come close to using a kettle and making tea the old-fashioned way. A kettle all the way!
